Welcome to The Ekumal Podcast
You are standing inside a living ecological sanctuary. This virtual tour is an invitation to listen — not only to the audio, but to the land itself. Through this experience, Ekumal shares how architecture, nature, and human presence can exist in balance.
An Audio Journey Through the Land
This audio has been designed to accompany your time here. You can listen while walking, sitting, or resting — allowing the words to meet you wherever you are. There is no right way to experience this. Let your curiosity, senses, and intuition lead.

Why Ekumal Exists
Ekumal is an ecological center created to raise consciousness through the way we live, build, and relate to the Earth.
Our vision is to preserve biodiversity, regenerate land, and expand this model to protect other natural areas — transforming them into sanctuaries for future generations.
Every system here — water, energy, materials, and food — is designed to work in symbiosis with the land.
Who We Are
Ekumal was born from witnessing how overconstruction was eroding the biodiversity of this region. What emerged was a commitment to create a different way of living — one that honors the elements and works regeneratively with them.
The water you use comes from underground cenotes and is filtered back into the soil.
The energy comes from the sun and is stored through upcycled systems.
The structures are made from earth-based materials chosen for their low impact and harmony with the environment.
This place is not built on the land — it is built with it.

A Living Museum of Ecology
As you explore Ekumal, you’ll encounter:
-
Earth-based architecture using super adobe and organic forms
-
Solar energy systems paired with salvaged batteries
-
Water filtration wetlands that nourish the soil
-
Eco-bricks created through community collaboration
-
Syntropic agroforestry, where plants support one another’s growth
-
Elemental spaces dedicated to Fire, Earth, Water, Wind, and Ether
Each space carries both function and meaning — practical, symbolic, and experiential.
Participation Through Presence
You are already part of this ecosystem.
The water you use feeds the soil.
Your steps interact with living systems.
Your awareness contributes to the field of this place.
Ekumal invites reflection — not perfection.
